Some students were reportedly offended and taken aback by the unusually grim questions about hypothetical events taking place at a drinking circle called ‘The Vizards’.
Reactions to the questions ‘varied from incredulity to mild amusement’ according to online Cambridge student news website The Tab.
The majority of the those taking the exam would have been freshers recently starting at the University, who may well have been familiar with drinking circle initiations.
A University of Cambridge spokesman told The Daily Telegraph “In the Part One Criminal Law examination paper set by the University of Cambridge Law Faculty, hypothetical situations are presented in order to test students’ understanding of different aspects of Criminal Law.”
