It looks as though the season in Whistler may end on a high note.
After a crappy January and February, March has been shaping up nicely with consistently low temperatures and now, at last, lots of snow.
There’s been 36cm over the past two days, and there should be lots more to come (mid-mountain, the snowpack is two metres deep). Temperatures will stay pretty low too, though we don’t know how long. Best to ski the resort now if you can!
Also in BC, but much further inland, Fernie woke up with 20cm of fresh snow yesterday morning.
“Be sure to do whatever you can to get here,” said its snow reporter, “because today should be epic.” A little more snow is expected today, and low temperatures too – no higher than -3C.
Conditions are excellent further north, too. In Lake Louise in the Banff National Park, they’ve had 10cm in the past two days, and are expecting a mix of sunshine and snow flurries for much of the week. Temperatures will stay below freezing, too. It’ll be a great week there. In fact, Lake Louise has had a great season. We wish we could have skied it at least once!
