The national icons

Find out what makes Australia the vibrant place that it is at the world-class institutions that call Canberra home. The Australian War Memorial, the National Museum of Australia, the National Gallery of Australia, Old Parliament House (which incorporates the National Portrait Gallery) and Parliament House are all informative AND interesting, and far removed from the stuffy museums or galleries you might have been subjected to as a kid

The bush capital

It’s not for nothing Canberra is known as the bush capital. Within 10 minutes of the CBD are large bushland areas where you can walk or bicycle around, blissfully unaware you’re in the middle of the capital city. You’re more likely to encounter a kangaroo than other people.

Nightlife, yes nightlife, and culture

Believe it or not, there are plenty of great pubs and bars in Canberra, and lots of galleries, museums and cultural institutions to keep you interested.
