Energy Minister Chris Hartcher has reportedly written to electricity retailers that the government plans to detail the impact of the carbon tax and renewable energy acts on power bills.

Companies would be required to list cost impacts or a general estimate on each individual bill.

Premier Barry O’Farrell unveiled the plan to highlight carbon tax impact.

“The public have a right to know how much all these schemes and taxes are adding to their bills,” Mr O’Farrell said in a statement today.

“NSW Treasury estimates the carbon tax alone will add up to $498 a year to household bills – and families should be reminded about this impost every time their bill arrives.

“Labor’s carbon tax is going to devastate many businesses and we want to ensure they know the damage that is being caused by it.”
