Taking place at Christ Church Spitalfields, the event will feature readings from celebrities including former Bond girl and Game of Thrones star Dame Diana Rigg and British actress Amanda Donohoe. Previous readers have included Sir Michael Caine, Samantha Bond, Sir John Hurt, James Norton, Joely Richardson and Jim Broadbent.

Tickets for the event, which this year is sponsored by First Utility, are available now priced from £15. Guests will enjoy performances from BBC Young Musician of the Year, Martin James Bartlett, and sing along to traditional Christmas carols to get into the festive spirit.

VIP tickets are also available, priced at £85, including an exclusive post-concert reception in the historic church’s crypt where guests will be able to mingle with celebrity readers and enjoy Christmas cocktails and canapés, a festive silent auction and a special performance by 1940s vintage trio, The Victory Sisters.

ChildLine founder, Dame Esther Rantzen, says: “For most children, Christmas is magical, but for others, it’s a time when they feel more alone than ever – when they’re struggling to cope with being neglected, bullied or abused.

“Carols by Candlelight is not only a beautiful Christmas celebration, it’s also the perfect way to support ChildLine, raising money to ensure that our wonderful counsellors are able to offer support and hope to the thousands of children who will get in touch this Christmas and in the year ahead.”
