Seven took the Spice Girl, who was until recently a judge on The X Factor on the network, to the NSW Supreme Court citing a conditional contract which keeps her from signing with another company until January 31, 2014.

Nine bought the rights to former Seven hit AGT when it was deemed surplus to requirements at the top-rating channel and had hoped Brown could help the family variety show be a success for them.

Brown became linked to Nine just weeks after giving notice to Seven citing family reasons. She moved to the US to be a judge on America’s Got Talent.

She had also worked as a presenter on Australia’s version of Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing With The Stars.

Nine thought Brown’s X Factor deal was done when they signed Brown to join Dawn French and Kyle Sandilands on its panel.

But the court decided Brown is “restrained from entering into or performing any agreement with any person other than (Channel 7) for her to appear on television in Australia at any time before 31 January 2014.”
