Cycling, walking, paragliding opportunities are all in plentiful supply, and England’s highest mountain, Scafell PIke, is a 15-minute drive away (if tackling this 980-metre-tall peak from the Borrowdale start point). Two bars make for lively evening hang-outs, and there’s a well-kept grassy outdoor seating area – perfect for taking in the views while drinking a nice cold one.
Rooms Spacious doubles offer views of the pretty surroundings, particularly special when the sun rises over the hills in the early morning. Only downside is it’s showers only, so you won’t be able to soak in the tub after a hard day out on the trail.
Bill please Doubles from £41pp. Continental and English breakfasts are included in the room price so you can stock up on the carbs before heading out.
