The researchers studied a colony of 420 fruit-eating bats in India for over 13 months, taking note their sexual habits.
Newser says that in the 57 counts of sex recorded, the researchers found the males started the proceedings with cunnilingus for approximately 50 seconds, which was two-and-a-half to fives times longer then the penetrative act that followed, and then returned to finish them off with another 94-188 seconds of oral enjoyment.
Researchers suspect that copulation prolonged by foreplay may also lead to enhanced instances of conception.
The findings of this study are the first to show that male bats do indeed go downtown. A previous study had found that female bats were also orally inclined and would perform fellatio on their male counterparts.
Either way, the favour is being returned.
