And while they were not always right – try a regular night out with nothing but pennies and see how far that gets you – their assertions are certainly true in the case of this passion-project night at south London’s Hidden, which offers nine hours of the best jungle, house, trance, and electro all for the princely sum of, well, nothing at all. Nada. Diddly squat.

The only caveat to be a part of this fantastically fiscally friendly event is to email your name beforehand to get on the guest list, and to get there before midnight, otherwise you will be privvy to a Cinderella-esque levy of a tenner.

Even then, though, this is a bargain for the cornucopia on offer here.

Celebrating the right to dance – for free – this self-styled payback party passes the rewards on to the clubbers with a top line-up of no fewer than 35 artists, spread across three rooms.

Freedom 2 Dance hosts the Old Skool and Classics arch, with a litte help from Slipmatt, Jumping Jack Frost and Nicky Blackmarket, along with Uncle Dugs, Twista, DJ Spice, Sense, Swifty B, EZM and SLB. The Frantic Hard Dance arch hosts Andy Whitby, Cally Gage, Lucy Fur, Dave Curtis, Wayne Smart, Zeebra Kid and Smyrky & Seraya. Then there’s a house, electro, breaks and club classics arch too, making sure that everybody is catered for. For those unconvinced, Hidden also promise a ‘new firm-but-friendly security team’. How can you argue with that?
