A film showing a dog biting a shark, filmed by an Australian, has ignited debate on Youtube with many slamming the incident as inhumane and irresponsible.

The footage shows two dogs swimming in the ocean as sharks circle.

The cameraman films as the dogs approach the sharks, not expecting one of them to dive beneath the water and attack.

After the dog apparently bites the shark the man behind the camera exclaims: “The dig just bit the shark! I’ve see it all now. I can’t believe I’ve caught that on camera.”

According the running commentary, the dogs swim with sharks “all the time” and, as many Youtube viewers have noted, the species of shark are unlikely to be dangerous.

The video has sparked debate, with many arguing that the dogs should not have been allowed to worry the wild creatures.

“What the hell?! why are those dogs being allowed in there to be a nuisance to the sharks. I wish the sharks had bitten the dog. Would teach the owners a lesson not to let pets be a nuisance to wildlife. Also, as another Australian, I'd like to apologise to everyone for the annoying douche filming and talking over the video like an immature idiot,” wrote Popaddict.

While dafttool said: “Apparently "this place" is ambivalent about a humane animal practices & protecting endangered species as well. Cheers to you for defending the indefensible. You sound like the chuckling ass behind the camera in this video, a tourist of barbarism.”
