Why do you love to travel?
It’s the unknown, and the sense of excitement when you land up in a new destination. There is much of the planet that is still left undiscovered, and I’m adventurous by heart, so I love trying new food, meeting new cultures and most of all – sharing travel stories!
Who would be your ideal travel partner and why?
I have to say my husband. He’s as much of a travel buff as me, and makes me laugh when we find ourselves in tricky situations (like being stranded on a tiny island off Vietnam).
What was your favourite destination last year and why?
Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains. Spending a night under canvas, dining on delicious Tagines, whilst sipping mint tea under the stars was pretty awesome.
Describe the most unusual situation you’ve found yourself in while travelling.
Being stuck on Phu Quoc Island for a couple of days during the Monsoon Season, with only an OK! Fish sauce factory for amusement.
Name two up-and-coming destinations for 2013 and why?
Malta & Gozo. These two islands are completely undersold and do not get enough positive media coverage. They offer great climate, are easily accessible from the UK, perfect for young families, culture vultures, nature enthusiasts, foodies and scuba diving!
If you could return to any country you’ve been to, where would it be and why?
Mozambique. The diving is superb and you can eat giant lobster whilst sitting on a pristine white beach, and then hop over to Tanzania for some serious game safaris!
What’s the one thing you can’t travel without and why?
My platinum AMEX. It gets me out of bad situations and helps with any emergencies.
Give us an overview of what you’ll be discussing at the TNT Travel Show:
Diving the world’s most famous dive locations, and sharing tips for learning to dive while travelling.
Who will find your talk relevant?
Anyone who has an interest in the ‘big blue’; who wants to learn to dive while travelling or who are already proficient divers and want to hear some funny stories.
