A decade ago, Faithfull launched a comeback with a fine album dominated by Kurt Weill songs.
This is another set of covers, richer in variety (Dolly Parton to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) but, despite Hal Willner’s lovely production, far weaker in execution.
Faithfull clings on to the title song but her voice can’t carry much else, and the duet with Jarvis Cocker on Somewhere, from West Side Story, is as misguided a recording as you’re ever likely to hear.
