El Parador, Camden
The scene: This diminutive tapas restaurant in Camden has been luring in the crowds for more than 20 years. Owned and run by the absolutely lovely Carlos Horillo and Patrick Morcas, expect a very warm welcome as soon as you step inside this feverishly fast-paced and popular local favourite.
The grub: Lip smacking tapas! The grilled octopus marinated with rosemary, thyme and virgin olive oil was tender and tasty; the tortilla had just the right level of gooeyness and the tiger prawns marinated with saffron and lime delivered a satisfying chilli hit. Olé!
Behind the bar: Affordable price list that’s heavy on impressive Spanish tipples.
Bill please: £56 bought six tapas (enough for two) and a bottle of dry white wine.
Verdict: El Parador is a London legend for a reason. Try it now.
