The catty remark shows Sir Elton John is prepared to reignite his feud with Madonna suggesting she will not be singing live during this Sunday’s half time show at America’s biggest sporting event.

When asked what advice he had for Madonna, who prides herself on singing live, the 64-year-old music legend said mischievously: “’Make sure you lip-synch good”.

His comments to Madonna come after the music industry’s two biggest stars had a spat at the Golden Globes film awards ceremony earlier this month, when they were both nominated for best song.

John fired the first shot by saying Madonna didn’t have a “******* chance of winning” for her song Masterpiece from her film ‘W.E’ as he walked the red carpet at the Los Angeles event.

When Madonna scooped the award, John’s partner David Furnish took to his Facebook page to pour scorn on her victory.
“Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit,” he wrote.

Madonna is expected to sing four songs at the Super Bowl, in Indianapolis, which is usually watched by more than one billion people worldwide.

Considered a highlight of any artist’s career, Madonna will sing at the event her hit Vogue as well as her latest single Give Me All Your Luvin’.

Her stage show will include acrobats from Cirque du Soleil.

Madonna, 53, always sings live at her concerts rather than like other artists such as Britney Spears who has been known to lip-synch to a backing track.

Previous half time performers at the Super Bowl have included Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen.

Elton John, who has never played at the event, and admits he would never wish to, was dismissive of the performances, saying on the TV program Good Morning America, “I’ve never seen a decent one”.

He added: “You have to play live, but I don’t think you can.

“In all fairness to everyone who’s done one before, you may be able to sing live, but it’s really hard to play live.”
Madonna is said to have spent the past fortnight rehearsing for her 12-minute appearance.

Elton John, who has an 18-month-old son Zachary, with Furnish, 49, has filmed an ad for Pepsi, which will be shown during the Super Bowl.
