Will Ferrell turns his back on comedy to play Nick Halsey, a man in the throes of a mid-life meltdown after he relapses into alcoholism. In an attempt to start over, he holds a junk sale in his front yard attracting the attention of pregnant neighbour (Rebecca Hall) who has problems of her own. The film is based on a Raymond Carver short story – always a promising sign.
