Terry Vance garner went out last Wednesday to feed his animals and never returned. His remains, including his dentures and other pieces of his body were discovered several hours later.
The possibility that he had suffered a medical emergency such as heart attack is being considered, but a pathologist was unable
to identify a cause of death.
“For all we know it was a horrific accident, but it’s so doggone weird that we have to look at all possibilities,” District Attorney Paul Frasier told local newspaper The Register-Guard.
One of the pigs is known to have bitten garner before, and it is possible that while feeding his animals, he could have been knocked over and then consumed. Pigs are known to be omnivorous but are not as dangerous as their wild, feral counterparts.
