Farmers’ markets are dotted around London – in Queen’s Park, South Kensington, Notting Hill, Clapham and Islington, among other locations – and have thrived since their foundation simply because they offer the tastiest produce around.

If you’re sick of trawling the halogen-lit aisles of sprawling supermarkets and queuing for hours on the way home from work, get back to basics and do your weekly shopping at a nearby farmers’ market. They tend to be outside, just off high streets, and offer a low-stress way to buy your groceries.

The reality is, when it comes to anything that’s in-season – it’s all about strawberries right now – you can’t do better than a farmers’ market. Equally,
if you want some yummy sausages, a cut of meat to roast or the freshest veggies around, you won’t be disappointed.
