The father of the bride-to-be slammed by her future mother-in-law in an email that went viral has angrily defended his daughter.

Alan Withers 64 hit back at Carolyn Bourne who took his daughter Heidi to task for showing a “staggering uncouthness and lack of grace” and calling her “an ideal candidate for the Ladette to Lady television series”.

“It is high time someone explained to you about good manners. Yours are obvious by their absence and I feel sorry for you.”

Bemused, Heidi, 29 forwarded the email to friends – it quickly went viral.

Withers from Ledbury, Herefordshire reportedly said that Bourne “has her head stuck so far up her own arse she doesn't know whether to speak or fart.”

“I was surprised when I read Carolyn's email to Heidi,” he said.

“Heidi was very upset and the two of them obviously don't see eye to eye. I met Carolyn and her husband Edward for dinner at a pub in London last year."

“Edward was a jovial chap but Carolyn was quite snotty. She had a look about her which made us think she thought she was better than us.”

"Ever since that meeting we call her "Miss Fancy-Pants".

Bourne, a specialist flower breeder in Dawlish, Devon, sent the nasty email to Heidi six weeks ago. In it she also had a go at Heidi's parents for not saving enough money for her upcoming wedding to Bourne's stepson Freddie, and called her a prime candidate for TV program Ladette to Lady

"One could be accused of thinking that Heidi Withers must be patting herself on the back for having caught a most eligible young man,’ she concluded. ‘I pity Freddie,’" she concluded.

Heidi Withers is due to marry 29 year old fiancee Freddie Bourne (both pictured) from Putney who last night declined to comment on the spat.
