The film is set in a near future in which the world has become a decrepit, poverty-riddled planet, with the well off living in lavish luxury on off world colony Elysium – where there are no wars, no illnesses and everything is just hunky dory.
Damon though, scrounging around on old terra firma, sets about redressing the balance and aims, as he says in the trailer, “to break into the most heavily guarded place in the universe.”
Promising block-busting bang for your buck as well as some astute social commentary, this looks like one of this year’s highlights already.
