Five more soldiers joined the previous three to have been stood down for allegedly being involved in a series of emails including videos of women having sex.
The ADF and NSW Police are investigating the distribution of the videos and dossiers alleged to have been kept on 12 or more victims.
“The offences relate to allegations that a group of Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of the Australian Army produced and distributed highly inappropriate material demeaning women, across both Defence computer systems and the public internet,” an Army statement said.
The statement referred all questions regarding the case to the NSW Police, who are considering civil charges.
News Limited reports the most recent group of suspended soldiers included a Major and members of the Sydney-based 2 Commando Regiment.
Chief of Army Lt Gen David Morrison said 90 more Defence personnel, “overwhelming Army personnel”, are being looked into with regard to the scandal.
“The matters under investigation are serious,” he said.
