As reported on Sky News, food inflation will hit 3.8% by the end of the year.
Food prices have risen because of a combination of bad weather, increased consumption and political conflict.
Wheat products could also face a price hike as Ukraine is a key grain producer.
Unluckily for healthy eaters, fruit prices have shown the largest increase – prices have risen over 10%. And the cost of your Sunday roast is also set to get dearer, as vegetables and meat prices have risen 5%.
Even seeking solace in a bottle of wine will cost you more, as prices for plonk have increased by 16% year on year.
Looks like there’s never been a better time to start that diet…
