Chelsea footballer Frank Lampard looks set to wind up in court over a speeding fine after police busted him breaking a 50mph limit.

Lampard, 32, was caught with a laser gun in a speed trap and officers provided him with a DVD showing how fast his vehicle was travelling.

The England midfielder’s lawyers, though, are now demanding proof that the laser was properly tested before and after being used.

Lampard – a known car lover, whose collection includes a Mercedes SL500, a Range Rover, an £80,000 Audi Q7, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and Aston Martin DB9 – has pleaded not guilty to exceeding the 50mph limit and a trial date has been set for March by magistrates in Staines.
