Comic book artist Joann Sfar chronicles the remarkable life of French singer Serge Gainsbourg (a magnificent Eric Elmosnino) in what is a compelling biopic. Scenes involving Gainsbourg’s early years are much stronger than a rather cliché-ridden climax but this is still an insightful homage to an influential artist.
