Police are continuing their hunt for a gang of teenagers who attacked a student and a teacher at a Gold Coast high school Tuesday afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said five people, one armed with a knife, entered the Marymount College at Burleigh Heads about 12.55pm (AEST).

She said they punched a male student and verbally assaulted a female teacher.

However, The Courier Mail online reports one of the youths held the knife against the teacher’s throat.

The youths were chased from the school by a group of workmen from a nearby site who saw the incident.

One of the youths has been apprehended but police are still searching for the remaining four.
