Ladies of the world rejoice – George Clooney is single once again after splitting with current squeeze Elisabetta Canalis
in a joint statement sent to America’s Entertainment Tonight the pair said:
"‘We are not together any more. It’s very difficult and very personal and we hope everyone can respect our privacy."
Only a few weeks ago Canalis, 32 revealed in an interview with Italian Magazine Chi that she hoped to eventually marry.
"I am a firm believer in marriage, in the future I will be married, but for the time being I am happy as I am,"
The TV presenter/model also admitted that she wanted children and gave no clue that her and Clooney's relationship was about to end after two years together.
"I am very happy at the moment – thanks to my man and my fairytale is continuing," she said "We are a couple that never gets bored."
However Canalis obviously hadn't read the writing on the wall. Earlier this year the 50 year old Hollywood heart-throb Clooney told Piers Morgan in an interview that he had no intention of ever getting married or having children.
Clooney, was married briefly to American actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993 and vowed never to get hitched again.
Canalis and Clooney recently dined out at Il Gatto Nero near Clooney’s Lake Como villa looking glum.
Clooney is currently filming Gravity in London with Sandra Bullock.
