That’s why – when you’re able to tell your customers you’ve won one – they’re worth their weight in gold. It’s now time to register to compete for one of the 36 awards we have lined up for 2014. And remember, The Golden Backpack logo is the guarantee that tells the world you’ve struck gold when it comes to customer service.

So get your nominations in now – the deadline is 15 August.

The golden gateway to The Golden Backpacks is through a simple nomination process.  Just tell us which Golden Backpack Award(s) you’re going for and in no more that 400 words tell us why you deserve to win it.

If, as directors or employees of the company, you’re too shy to nominate yourselves, nomination can be accepted from an industry colleague or another business, a state tourism or regional tourism office, a trade body or a customer.

Once you’ve been nominated, we’ll invite you to add some flesh to the bones. Don’t break the postman’s back, but maybe a short video about the business, some customer feedback – things like comments written in a guestbook or feedback form or direct messages received on social media – facts and figures about the business or pretty much anything that you feel would be relevant to support the nomination.

We will also be taking the opportunity to induct a number of individuals into the newly formed Golden Backpack Awards – Backpacker Hall of Fame – reward and recognition for their years of service or for their industry achievements.

As well as the traditional array of award categories for each state (Best Backpacker Accommodation and Best Tour/Activity) there will be National awards for Camper/car rental, Backpacker night out, Visitor attraction, Backpacker destination, Independent travel agent and Best large travel agent for Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa and the South Pacific.
