Rain is expected to for Glastonbury festival this weekend but shouldn’t turn the festival into the mudbath we’ve seen in recent history.

Metcheck forecasts light showers on Thursday afternoon and again on Friday, meaning U2's headline set could get wet.

Rain has also been predicted for every day this week into the lead up to the festival so the Worthy Farm site will already be soggy as the 250,000 strong crowd arrive over the next couple of days.

Otherwise, weather will be cloudy, with temperatures from around 15° to 21° over the weekend.

Last year saw one of the hottest Glasto's in recent years, bringing with it a new problem in the form of dust.

Despite this year's damp weather predictions it's unlikely that the washout of 2007 will be repeated. Back then near-constant rain turned the ground to sludge and tents were deluged by rain forcing thousands of revellers to abandon their camp-site.

?Glastonbury takes place this weekend (June 24-26), and will be headlined by U2, Coldplay and Beyonce.
