Golborne Road, London
The scruffy cousin of Portobello, which is just around the corner, Golborne Road is a hodge-podge of Middle Eastern cafes and bakeries, English gastropubs and esoteric furniture stores.
On weekends, though, the market along this normally quiet, north-western thoroughfare is one of the best spots in London to buy furniture – whether you’re looking for a cheap bookcase or eye-catching knick-knacks.
Stalls spill out onto the pavement from the regular shops, providing a heap of options for anyone putting a flat together. Don’t be afraid to haggle.
Once you’re done, be sure to pop into the Fat Badger on the corner for a pint of Guiness and a burger. It’s a quality establishment. Or, if you’re feeling a bit more exotic, check out Moroccan Tagine.
Great for: buying furniture
