Great Spitalfields Pancake Race

In honor of Shrove Tuesday, flapjack enthusiasts cross frying pans in the annual Great Spitalfields Pancake Race. To enter, teams of four must don wacky costumes and bring their own frying pan (pancakes are provided). Engraved trophy griddles are awarded to the team that can flip flapjacks fastest while running down Brick Lane. There are also awards for Best Dressed and other runners-up.

For those less competitive, hot pancakes will be provided by Csaba’s Hungarian Creperie.
