Green and no gold: Aussies miss out on Oscar glory

Jennifer Lawrence beat Aussie Naomi Watts to take home the Oscar for Best Actress for her portrayal of mentally unstable Tiffany in Silver Linings Playbook.

Daniel Day-Lewis took out Best Actor over Aussie Hugh Jackman, in his third Best Actor Oscar win, for his role in Stephen Speilberg’s Lincoln.

Favourite Anne Hathaway also took home Best Supporting Actress over Jacki Weaver for her part in Les Miserables.

To add to the list of Australians who missed out this year were Dave Clayton and Rick Findlater who were nominated for visual effects and make-up on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Not all was lost, as all nominees at this year’s Oscars, win or lose, are rumoured to take home a goodie bag worth $44,000 which even contains cosmetic surgery vouchers.
