Jack Black comedy Gulliver’s Travels topped the UK box office over the New Year period.

Still at number one, the 3D update of Jonathan Swift’s 18th century satire made £7.02 million on its opening weekend – more than double the opening takings of Little Fockers, which was out the previous week.

Gulliver’s Travels tells the tale of a man who discovers a world of tiny people.

Little Fockers is now at number two in the UK box office, with romance, Love and Other Drugs at debuting at number three. The movie, which follows a Viagra salesman (Jake Gyllenhaal) who falls in love with a woman (Anne Hathaway) with Parkinson’s disease, has made £1.6 million since it opened on December 29.

At four is epic soldier drama The Way Back, while The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is down from three to five.
