It has been reported that more than 50,000 files were obtained by hackers from Sony’s secure website, although the company has refused to confirm details of the incident.
It is expected that this theft took place shortly after Sony’s Playstation network was hacked last year during which hundreds of thousands of users’ data was stolen.
Sony acquired the rights to Michael Jackson’s back catalogue for the princely sum of $250million and released a posthumous album entitled Michael in December 2010.
