The prosecution will open its case on Wednesday in the trial of two people accused of the abduction of a boy from Hamilton Public Library two years ago.

The start of the trial of the boy’s grandfather Dick Headley and mother Kay Skelton in the High Court at Hamilton today was delayed because of legal argument.

The boy’s name is suppressed.

Family friend Nikala Taylor pleaded guilty last week to his abduction and will be sentenced later.

In August last year, Jeremy Owen Daly and Tania Carol Thomason were jailed for 10 months for unlawfully detaining the boy at their home in Matauri Bay in Northland.
