Happy Mondays Bez arrested for harassment

Former Happy Mondays star Bez has been arrested on the run after an ex-girlfriend claimed he harassed her.

Bez – real name Mark Berry – was wanted by Greater Manchester Police after failing to answer bail over allegations that he breached a restraining order.

The Happy Mondays maraca-shaker was nabbed by police and arrested at Euston Station in London. He has been charged with breach of a restraining order and trespassing on the railway.

His ex-girlfriend Monica Ward claims that Bez harassed her with text messages and phone calls after he was convicted of assaulting her in August.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Mark Berry has been charged with breach of a restraining order and trespass on a railway.

“He has also been given a warning under the Harassment Act 1997.”

Bez been bailed to appear at Manchester City Magistrates Court today.
