A rare edition of a Harry Potter book worth £6000 has been stolen from an art gallery.
The limited first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was swiped from a display box in the Creative Art Gallery in Woodstock last month, while the gallery assistant was busy dealing with a group of people.
PC Geoffrey Allen, from Thames Valley Police, said he believes this was an opportunist crime and that the offenders “took advantage” of the gallery assistant being occupied by a group of people.
Only 300 to 500 copies of this limited edition book were ever published.
Meanwhile, the Harry Potter movie saga is soon coming to an end. JK Rowling’s final book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has been split into two films. The first one is coming out on November 19, while part two will be released next July.
