It says three objects washed up 10km east of Augusta, one the length of a car with “distinct rivets”.
They were spotted by a member of the public who called the police.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) is now investigating and its chief Martin Dolan told CNN it was an “interesting” lead..
“It’s sufficiently interesting for us to take a look at the photographs,” he said.
“The more we look at it, the less excited we get.”
MH370 went missing on March 8 with 239 people on board and the hunt for its wreckage has so far been unsuccessful – despite sightings of debris and signals received from the black box.
