The bears have taken to raiding the barrels of fuel that get left behind by helicopter crews to power the generators for the halogen lights and their aircraft.
After taking long sniffs from the barrels, the bears dig shallow trenches in the ground and lie on their backs staring up at the sky.
This kind of deadheaded behaviour seems to only be exhibited by brown bears in the Kronotsky Nature Reserve in South Kamchatka, considered by many to be the largest brown bear in the world.
I wonder if a bear off its face on petrol would still try and eat you if you came upon it chilling out and looking up at the sky? Seems likely.
