It hasn’t been confirmed who starred in the pictures, although it’s safe to say it wasn’t the body of Christ being shown in Pomeroy, County Tyrone.

Rev Martin McVeigh had a bad reaction to the pictures and although there’s no proof the pics belonged to him, his subsequent reactions aren’t really those of an innocent man.

“He was visibly shaken and flustered. He gave no explanation or apology to the group and bolted out of the room,” the parents said.

After about 20 minutes, they said, McVeigh rejoined the meeting “and wrapped up by saying that the children get lots of money for their holy communion and should consider giving some of it to the church”.

And while the parents, and the eight-year-old boy, in attendance will most certainly have something to confess this Sunday, the Roman Catholic Church isn’t impressed, launching an investigation.

McVeigh said other church officials used the memory stick and he welcomed an investigation “so that what happened can be legitimately explained”.

Yes, investigations by the Catholic Church will shed light on things, won’t they? Anyone remember the paedo priests being sent to small parishs to continue their kiddy-fiddling ways? Or the numerous people who have been investigated, found to have performed supernatural ‘miracles’ and been anointed ‘saints’?

Maybe, Rev McVeigh should just be allowed to chalk it up as a ‘mistake’. Priests have urges, too – and although they are ‘married to god’, the big man can’t be everywhere at once. We’re sure he’d understand.
