During an address in St Peter’s Square, the Argentinian Pope mispronounced a word that should have originally meant ‘example’ or ‘case’ – but he stumbled over the word, and ended up saying the Italian word for ‘cock’, which is also used as the f-bomb.
However, the popular Pope remained unflustered, and continued his sermon – during which he prayed for a peaceful end to the conflict in the Ukraine.
Since he was elected in 2013, Pope Francis has been seen as ‘one of the people’, and his gaffe only served to reinforce that opinion, with many people on social networking sites agreeing that the two words he confused are easy to mistake.
