The scene  Retooling the previous establishment into ‘a bar for drinking’ it has a wealth of cocktails, beers and other booze. Management’s opened up the interior to make it three sections of highly spacious booth-encircled drinking space with a couple of fireplaces adding to the minimal, red-leathered aesthetic. And if you’re worried about missing the game by being in a ‘bar’, they still play sport on a big screen.

The grub Err, none. Like we said, it’s for drinking not munching.

Behind the bar There are just shy of 20 cocktails to pick from, spread across the traditional ‘honey’ offerings (mojito, margarita and cosmopolitan), and the more extravagant and indulgent ‘venom’ concoctions (the Kraken ‘n’ Stormy, full of rum, lime, ginger beer and Angostura bitters).

Most importantly, it has 21 beers to choose from, including draught (Erdinger), lagers (Vedett), wheat beers (Weihenstephan) and ales (Flying Dog) and Coopers.

Bill please Lagers from £4; wine from £4.10/ £16 (glass/ bottle); cocktails from £6.70.

Verdict A cool little establishment that keeps it simple and does what it’s set out to do with style – a bar is for drinking.
