Overview During the day residents and tourists pile through the doors to take advantage of the hotel’s sprawling sands for a spot of sunbathing, or to take a lesson in the likes of wakeboarding or waterskiing from one of the on-site instructors.
By night, the Beach Rotana’s Indian, Italian, German and seafood restaurants are always packed, giving the hotel plenty of atmosphere and buzz.
None of these dining options is particularly cheap, but the hotel frequently runs happy hour deals, ladies’ nights and meal offers, so it’s always worth asking the concierge what’s on when you stay.
The service here can be overly formal, to the point of feeling robotic, but staff are generally eager to help out.
Wow factor Zen The Spa in the hotel’s basement offers a range of decadent massages and remedies, from luxurious facials to the bonkers rasul mud treatment, which involves up to six people getting slathered in the brown stuff together – intimate is an understatement.
Rooms Poky, and the furnishings look about a decade out of date.
Bill, PLease A standard double costs from £115pn.
