The body was discovered by a search party on Wednesday afternoon in a river a short distance away from the turtle sanctuary at which Mr Huntley had been volunteering.
He went missing on Tuesday, May 27 after trekking to see a waterfall in the jungle.
The BBC reports that local police chief Sharifuddin Abdul Ghani said the initial autopsy on the body found no physical injury and the cause of death is unknown at this stage.
BBC correspondent Jennifer Pak says it will take two days to identify whether it is Mr Huntley.
