According to reports, emergency services were called to a home in Panania this morning after a resident reported seeing a man trying to break into a van.
They are said to have been found Thorpe disorientated on a combination of antidepressants and medication for a shoulder injury.
An NSW Police spokesperson confirmed that the swimmer had been taken to hospital for a medical assessment but no official complaint had been made and no further action is expected.
Last week, his management company SEL denied the former world champion was in rehab battling depression and alcohol abuse.
It was reported he left rehab on Friday morning.
