The wide operation happened after lifeboat and helicopter crews were alerted to reports of an unmoving figure floating in the waters of Newquay, on Monday evening.
The search turned out to be a waste of time for Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) volunteers’ as the floating body was exposed as nothing more than an inflatable sex toy.
The operation comes after the Cornish town’s 2015 crackdown on the mankini and zero-tolerance policy on sex toys that we reported on last year.
Newquay Coastguard Association chairman Dave Bulley said the sex doll has been disposed of.
Do you know who the sex doll belongs to? If so we’d love to hear from you at TNT.
