The monkey was supposedly sent up 72 miles in a Pishtam, or Explorer, rocket. Tehran is slowly working its way up to sending humans into space.
Though the experiment seems harmless enough, there is worry in the international community that technology from the space program could also be used to develop long-range missiles armed with nuclear warheads.
