Downey Jr (pictued above with Scarlett Johansson in Iron Man 2), Jr along with Paltrow and Don Cheadle will shoot part of the film in China in what is one of the biggest cases yet of a co-financing venture between Hollywood and China.
“Adding a local flavour, and working with our new local partner, will enhance the appeal and relevance of our characters in China’s fast-growing film marketplace,” said Marvel’s general manager of operations and finance Rob Steffens.
DMG will cough up to the tune of 1bn yuan (roughly £99m) towards the film. Shane Black is to write and direct the film, which is scheduled to hit theatres next year.
