Korean Air Flight 72 was diverted to a Canadian Forces base on Vancouver Island  after Korean Air’s office in Los Angeles was called with a bomb threat referring specifically to that flight.

The jet was on its way to Seoul from Vancouver International Airport.

American forces also responded, with US fighter jets sent from Portand, Oregon to escort the plane.

A phoned-in threat on Monday caused a two-hour delay to the same route.

Officials are due to carry out a detailed search of the plane’s luggage now that it has landed.
