Clayton Osbon, 49, appeared to have a breakdown on flight 191 and was locked out of the cockpit as passengers looked on in horror.

According to a 1995 story in the Washington Island Observer, Ronald Osbon’s personal flight on April 14, 1995, got into trouble around Daytona Beach. According to the National Transportation Safety Board report, Ronald complained that his right engine was “kicking in and out” before the plane crashed,  killing both Ronald and his business associate.

Just over two weeks before the 17th anniversary of Ronald’s death, his son Clayton – a JetBlue captain for 12 years – is said to have begun talking incoherently about religion while in the cockpit, as well as flipping switches and complaining about too much noise.

The co-pilot became alarmed and coaxed him out of the cockpit before locking him out. It was then that Clayton is said to have begun screaming “say your prayers, say your prayers” and running up and down the aisle shouting “Iraq, al-Qaeda, terrorism, we’re all going down.”

Now receiving medical care in FBI custody, Clayton has been charged with interfering with a flight crew, which carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
