Sir Jimmy Savile got his unusual last request granted yesterday as his coffin was laid to rest at a 45 degree angle.

The TV star made his request so that he could “see the sea from his grave”. His final procession was attended by hundreds of well-wishers in his favourite town of Scarborough as he was taken to his final resting place at the seaside cemetery. A local theatre sign posted the words ‘Good bye Jimmy’ on their sign as the procession passed slowly through town.

During his lifetime the Jim’ll Fix It presenter and radio DJ raised millions of pounds for charities, including hospitals and special clinics raising money for children with spinal injuries – a cause close to his heart having gone through painful times with spine problems as a young man working in Yorkshire.
