O Sang-hon is said to have met his brutal demise because of his close ties to the leader’s uncle, Jang Song-taek, who was himself publicly executed in December after an official public statement branded him ‘despicable human scum’ for his ‘corruption and counter revolutionary activities’.
Sang-hon is thought to be the latest of 11 senior Worker Party officials to have been executed this year for their connection with Kim Jong-un’s uncle.
More are expected to follow as South Korean media reports that hundreds more supporters and relatives of O Sang-hon are to be executed or sent to concentration camps.
